Founded as a mission by the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, St. Joseph's Hospital has served the health care needs of the Tampa Bay community since 1934. St. Joseph's strives to be the regional leader in medical excellence by improving the health of our community through accessible, compassionate and family-focused health care services. St. Joseph's Level II Trauma Center offers a high level of acute emergency care to children and adults who sustain life-threatening injuries, mainly from motor vehicle accidents and near drownings. The hospital is also a state-designated pediatric trauma referral center.
