BayCare Opens Physician Office Building in South Shore

BayCare Health System is bringing much needed health care services to South Hillsborough County with the July 1 opening of the Physician Office Building, located on the campus of St. Joseph's Hospital-South (set to open in early 2015).

The 40,000-square-foot, freestanding building will be home to BayCare Outpatient Imaging and BayCare Laboratories, in addition to HealthPoint Medical Group's Patient-Centered Medical Home, Big Bend Adult.

The outpatient center will provide imaging and laboratory services in a new, state-of-the-art facility with convenient parking.  Imaging services will include MRI, CT, digital mammography (screening and diagnostic) and bone density, by appointment.  Some imaging exams, such as X-ray studies and ultrasound, do not require an appointment and can be serviced on a walk-in basis.  Laboratory services will include a wide range of general and specialized testing, with walk-in service available.

"This is a big step in our long journey to serve this community," said Steve Mason, president and CEO of BayCare. "We're excited to make these services available right here in Riverview, where we can provide our high standard of care in combination with excellent service to our patients - all in a beautiful space that almost makes you forget you're in a medical facility."

The brand-new building has a layout of services organized with the patient in mind. With the look and feel of a spa, patients can feel more comfortable from the moment they arrive.  And they can feel good about the Physician Office Building's eco-friendly design, which includes sustainable materials and modifications for energy, light and water conservation.

BayCare will celebrate the opening of the Physician Office Building with a community event in September.
